When an organ is voluntarily donated by a patient or someone who has the power of attorney on the donor then the organ of this person is ready to be harvested by the doctors. Of course, they have to see to it that the person is no longer treatable and has no chances to live or recover. Another thing, it all has to be legal. Organ harvesting is an integral part of the medical world since it responds to the need of organs to be transplanted to many patients.
When a person deliberately refuses to donate his or her organs then that person will never be considered a donor and the refusal must be respected. However, some noble voluntary donors of vital organs willingly give theirs to help other people in need. In compensation, they are paid and taken care of if they are a live donor. In the case of a dead donor, the family is compensated.
There are actually two types of voluntary donation: opt-in and opt-out. The Opt-in system of voluntary donation means that permission is needed before someone becomes a donor. This means that the person needs to have a volunteer donor card or agreed to donate. On the other hand in the Opt-out system, every person who has not refused will become a donor especially when qualified.
